£25,979 to £28,770 pa

Newport

The Valuation Tribunal for Wales (VTW) hears local taxation appeals, mainly regarding Council Tax and Non-domestic Rating (business rates). It is an independent public body that is funded by Welsh Government.

We have introduced a new role within our organisation and are looking to recruit up to 3 Tribunal Support Officers.

The principal functions of a Tribunal Support Officer will be:

  • to support Tribunal Clerks with the management of their allocated case load.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with a willingness to learn and an ability to problem solve. Ideally, we would like them to have a high level of Welsh Language skills or at least a willingness to learn.

This is a full-time post, Monday to Friday [37 hours a week] and the successful candidates would be based in our Newport office. There could be an element of travel involved which might occasionally necessitate overnight stays, however, the Tribunal will pay your travelling expenses. If you are interested in applying, further information can be found on our website at: www.valuationtribunal.wales

Closing date: Friday 15 March 2024.

Tribunal Clerks

£27,803 to £42,403 pa

Newport office or home-based throughout Wales

The Valuation Tribunal for Wales is seeking to appoint a number of Tribunal Clerks. Tribunal Clerks provide support services to the members of the tribunal. A major function is to provide hearing-room advice on local taxation law in Wales (Council Tax and Business Rates). Training on this will be given.

We are open to applications from individuals with good academic backgrounds. People with local revenues experience and/or qualifications would be especially welcome; as would people with knowledge of valuation for rating. Successful applicants will be appointed to a point on the pay scale which is appropriate to their current qualifications and knowledge.

If you live in or near Newport, your workplace will be our Newport office. If you live elsewhere, you will be home-based. Regular travel will be required throughout Wales, and this will necessitate overnight stays away from home. The Tribunal will pay your travelling expenses. An annual car user allowance (£1,239) is also payable.

Closing date for applications is Friday 15 March 2024.
